On TikTok a video went viral as it shows several teenagers wearing blouses in a Canadian high school.

Male students were demonstrating against the school's dress code and treatment of female students.

The clip, with over 2 million views, has become the topic of discussion online, with some users saying it gives them hope for the next generation.

The original video was posted by 17-year-old Mason Boudreau, who spoke to local media about organizing the protest.

Boudreau (user @meat.man905) said many students were fed up with the way their school, College Heights Secondary School in British Columbia, handles discipline over their clothing.

"The girls at my high school were assigned a dress code for the silliest of reasons," she said, "like ripped jeans or a rip too high or wearing leggings," she argued.

He gathered a group of other boys from his grade on Snapchat and told them to wear crop tops or “clothes scandalous». Together, they would see if the school punished male students in the same way as female students.

TikTok viralizes protest of students who wear blouses for dress code for women

Boudreau cut up a T-shirt. Other guys borrowed clothes from sisters and girlfriends. On the day of the top crop protest, the administration did nothing.

“There were probably about 15 of us … and none of us were sent home,” Boudreau reported.

“And we walked past the directors and they really wouldn't do much. It was really weird to watch," he continued.

Apparently, only one boy received a dress code violation later that day because his shirt had spaghetti straps.

Boudreau says that many of the other students, especially the girls, loved the protest and were glad to see the boys call attention to the issue.

A teacher told them privately that she thought it was a great idea, according to Boudreau.

So far, there have been no changes or acknowledgments from the administration at that school.

Boudreau said that until that day, the boys had not planned any follow-up demos.

However, the teen commented, "If it gets worse again, we may do it again in the future."

A viral point with the original video said the crop top protest gives them hope for their future children and has garnered over 400k views.

“This is what I mean when I tell people that Gen Z is creating a world where I feel comfortable giving birth to a daughter,” said user @solvej_wren.

Who in a follow-up video and duet commented: "Thank you guys, your moms are so proud of you."

Other TikTok users also commented in support of his revolutionary idea.

“I learned this term this year: malicious compliance. DO IT friends. So proud!!!" said one.

“I have a daughter, I live in Texas and I feel very hopeless, but this gives me a lot of hope,” another woman commented.

Boudreau said online support for the crop top protest has been overwhelming.

"It's crazy to me, when people comment, like, 'I hope my son grows up to be like you.' That's crazy to me," she said. "I never thought it would have that kind of impact on someone."

College Heights Secondary School has not published or commented on the matter, the last thing that was known, is that the video had to be removed from Boudreu's account, further increasing the controversy on the social network.

Since many wonder if the school itself forced the young man or TikTok had to remove said video.
