Las tripulaciones de Easyjet comenzarán a usar, antes del fin de agosto un nuevo uniforme fabricado a partir de botellas de plástico recicladas.

Easyjet has reached an agreement with the Tailored Image company so that it is, for the next five years, to make the pilots and TCP uniforms from recycled plastic bottles.

With this initiative, Easyjet estimates that, at the rate of 45 bottles per uniform, it will be avoided that in those five years more than half a million plastic bottles end in the garbage every year.

According to Easyjet, in the tests that were performed last year, the new material: “compared to the non -recycled alternative, is more resistant to abrasion and offers greater elasticity and durability, which reduces the need to produce more units to long term".

In addition, as explained from the airline, to produce the tissue, renewable energy sources are used and "has a 75 percent carbon footprint than the traditional polyester".

This plastics recycling initiative joins others for the reduction of the use of this type of material by Easyjet.Among these, they emphasize that, in the new uniforms “plastic has also been replaced in all articles related to clothing to integrate more recyclable and biodegradable materials. Thus, plastic neck braces have been replaced by others of recyclable cardboard;plastic tweezers for shirts by metal tweezers; The white cardboard not recyclable by recyclable cardboard and has also gone from the external polypropylene covers for shirts to the biodegradable covers ”.

As for other single -use plastics, they remember that “among some actions is the introduction of a small bowl of plant origin such as support for tea bags or the elimination of more than 27 million plastic items from the available offerOn board 2020.In addition, Easyjet has never offered plastic straws and compensates for its customers with a 50 cents discount on hot drinks if they bring their reusable vessel ”.
