In line with the gradual improvement in economic activity, added to the increasing proportion of businesses adhering to the use of digital platforms, the 2021 data on purchases made through the internet were the highest since records were kept.

The 2021 numbers reflect that, in total, more than 2,700,000 online purchases were made in Paraguayan territory for an equivalent of G. 409.6 billion, a level 2.1 times higher than the figure recorded in 2020, according to the report of the Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP).

For its part, the analysis by means of payment shows that 62% of said purchases were made with credit cards, 28% with debit cards and the remaining 10% with prepaid cards. All categories recorded significant increases.

“With the improvement of the economic dynamism, the increase in the preference of the agents, and the greater adhesion of businesses to this digital means of payment in alliance with the entities through discounts and better financing conditions, better results can be anticipated for online purchases in 2022″, indicates the analysis of the consulting firm Mentu, on this segment.

BANK TRANSFERS

La Nación Compras vía internet cerraron el año pasado con cifras históricas

On the other hand, along the same lines, Paraguay is advancing by leaps and bounds in the digital field, especially in electronic transactions in the formal system, which is showing growth indicators every day, mainly in terms of electronic payments. According to recent data from the Central Bank, 2021 closed as a record year for bank transfers.

In the 12 months of last year, almost 22 thousand operations were carried out in the market, highlighting the growth and volume of electronic transactions.

In the month of December, a substantial increase in transfers was noted in line with the year-end holiday season and the payment of Christmas bonuses. These reached G. 33.3 billion, the highest monthly value of last year for a total of 2,560,626 operations. In this way, 2021 closes with a historical record of 21.7 million transfers in national currency, for a total value of G. 293.6 billion.

NEW MTESS ELECTRONIC SYSTEM

So far, some 37 companies have requested permission for their employees to work at night, using the electronic system implemented by the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security (Mtess) in the last month of last year. In total, some 704 workers were registered through this new mechanism to carry out tasks at night.

In the search for greater effectiveness and streamlining of administrative procedures, said electronic tool was made available to employers for the management of procedures related to the Employers' Registry (REOP) of the State portfolio. To put into operation the new electronic procedure system, a resolution from 2014 was annulled through Resolution No. 1691/2021.
