This year not only the classic black model will be the protagonist, we will also see more avant-garde and risky designs

We have already seen it coming since firms such as Prada, Chanel and Gucci included them in their autumn-winter collections and other 'fast fashion' chains such as Zara and Forever 21 followed in their footsteps: loafers will dominate the scene in 2021 as star shoes.

One of the many things that the COVID-19 pandemic has changed has been our way of dressing; now comfort is non-negotiable and that forces us to bet on looks that combine modernity and elegance, but that do not sacrifice comfort. And that is just how we would define loafers.

In the opinion of the image consultant Annia Acosta, this year not only the classic black retro model Michael Jackson style will be the protagonist; We will also see more avant-garde, creative and risky designs trending. "We will see innovative models, both in their prints and in the shape of the heel, sports versions, integrating the slip-on style in their appearance, models with studs and fringes, or glitter details for a night out," she says.

His favorites and the ones he predicts will be the must-have of the season are the loafers, models made of leather, without any type of laces or buckles and with a flat sole, which in addition to nodding to the marked French style loved by all, they are distinguished by how comfortable they are.

Although this footwear tends to be associated more with men, Acosta assures that now they will have greater importance in the women's wardrobe, by way of leaving aside tennis shoes and ballerinas to achieve a more modern and innovative look. “Loafers are perfectly suited in casual attire as well as semi-formal style for the office. They are my recommendation to go to work when you don't want to wear heels."

The best thing about moccasins is that there are no limits when it comes to combining and wearing them. They can be perfect to complement outfits oriented towards masculine aesthetics, such as jacket suits and shorts, but they are also a valid option to counter super feminine looks, skirts and dresses in pastel tones.

Do you dare to include them in your closet and make them your new favorite footwear? Remember that when it comes to fashion, nothing is written. So play with your creativity, without ever losing your essence. "Each woman is unique and she can give her that touch that defines her when it comes to dressing, respecting her essence and the circle in which she projects herself," concludes the fashion expert.
