Older brother, agent, adviser, manager... These are the four suits that René Ramos could wear to illustrate his brotherly and professional relationship with Sergio Ramos. And depending on who you ask from his closest entourage, there is one that fits more perfectly than the others. The older brother who guided and directed you in your early years in Madrid? The agent who pulls the strings of his career? The advisor who influences the player's decisions? Or the manager who handles the behind-the-scenes media and marketing?

It is curious that the man to whom they want to award so many and so varied suits does not want to wear any. "I just want to be in the background," says René himself in a telephone conversation with LOC. But it doesn't look like he's going to get it. His name, much to his regret, jumps at every professional step that his brother takes and now the issue takes a new turn after the accumulation of bad luck and questionable decisions in which Sergio Ramos has been surrounded since the beginning of the year and that culminated with his forced departure from Real Madrid.

To understand the complex process that led to his departure from the white club, we have to put René in his agent's suit. As LOC has been able to confirm, it was Sergio Ramos' brother who hatched and completed the operation of signing the center-back for PSG this summer. René was in permanent contact with Leonardo, the sports director of the French club, and it was with him that he negotiated the arrival of his brother in Paris. At that time it seemed like a good idea: his new club offered him job stability beyond the one-year contract that Real Madrid gave him, emoluments in line with the status they claimed and a club-state whose priority is to win, in a time, the European Cup.

Soon the reality dreamed by René and Sergio was distorted. The center-back already arrived in Paris injured in his left soleus and when it seemed that he could recover he had a relapse in September. Conclusion: he has not debuted with his new team and has barely been able to do more than train alone, apart from his new teammates. His decision to leave Madrid has been questioned even more over the last week: PSG is already launching trial balloons among its related media, including Le Parisien, about a possible termination of Sergio Ramos' contract. The solution may seem far-fetched, but it's already written black on white. René clarifies the issue in LOC: "He is not going to retire, nor is the contract going to be broken, nor are there any doubts. It is a physical issue and he will play again as soon as he can."

People often want to hold René the agent responsible for Sergio Ramos' bad drift at PSG... But they can't blame him for the decisions that his brother has made. It's René's turn to dress in the consultant outfit. A suit that he cannot always exercise because "Sergio Ramos is only advised by Sergio Ramos", say those who have known him for years. As seen in the failed renewal attempt with Real Madrid earlier this year. As LOC has learned, at that time it was René who was more interested in accepting the lower offer from the white club and the one who tried to "stop" his brother Sergio's desire to leave, emboldened by a context in which he felt undervalued. At that moment, René understood that given the knee problems that had affected Ramos for a long time and the economic situation of the club, which has suffered financially from the coronavirus crisis, it was logical and the most appropriate to accept a renewal, in principle, unfavorable : only one year extension and a 10% salary reduction. Sergio did not listen to his brother and took the initiative to leave. The adviser René lost the battle and the agent René began to work to find Sergio a destination in accordance with his demands. When the player wanted to back down and accept that downward renewal, it was already too late: for Madrid that offer had already expired and the departure of the club in which he had been for the last 15 years was already a fact.

ELDEST BROTHER

René defiende su gestión en LOC: los hilos que mueve en el patinazo del PSG con el fichaje de Sergio Ramos

It seems that the advisor suit does not fit as well as it did years ago, although from the player's environment they assure that it has never finished fitting and that all previous contract renewals have been agreed and negotiated "one to one between the player and Florentino Perez". Still there is a suit that can never be removed, if only by pure genetics. That of older brother, a role he conscientiously played in Sergio's first steps in football: "We were very young when we both came to Madrid and learned and developed professionally together. They were difficult times, but very nice for both of us," he reflects René on a suit that he wears with pride. "I am Sergio's brother, but also Miriam's. What happens is that professionally I have worked and work with Sergio and not with my other sister. We will always be brothers, but professionally he has his life and I have mine. I have been working for a long time More than 15 years in the world of football, I take more than 30 players, I travel throughout Spain, Europe... That shows that I am something more than Sergio Ramos, right?", says René.

But if there is a suit that René denies, it is that of a Machiavellian manager, the one they have come to call "pesetero" and who they blame for Sergio's departure from Madrid. "It has been a campaign of destruction. I look after the interests of my clients, Sergio included. Does that make me bad? I don't see that other representatives are told that when their players renew. The controversy that always exists when Sergio or René Ramos appear in the headline. I want to run away from all that and be calm, "says René to LOC.

Because, far from the orbit of his brother, the suit that René Ramos wears the most now is that of independent entrepreneur. His company RR-Soccer Management Agency is a sports representation and consultancy company that is in "full growth", with more than 30 players on its agenda. Although none of his representatives reach the status of his brother, Sergio has carried out some of the operations of Marcelo (a Madrid player) or Luca Zidane (Zidane's second son, who is a professional goalkeeper). He also acts as an intermediary. "There are some operations that I do not want to transcend because I do not want to get medals. That is not my style," says René Ramos.

He controls his own representation company from Futex 2015 SL, of which he is the sole administrator and owner of 100% of the shareholders, with assets amounting to more than four and a half million euros. In addition, among his businesses he has found a market niche in women's soccer, in which he represents several players and in which he invested as a partner of the extinct Club Deportivo Tacón, a team in which he was vice president. They say that his influence was essential for Florentino Pérez to buy this club and turn it into Real Madrid Women. It was one more demonstration of the businessman René, the one whose professional life does not necessarily revolve around his brother.
