The Montilla-Moriles Wine Route turns 20 and, therefore, this Thursday, November 4, a gala will be held in Montilla in which this tourist resource will be valued, in addition to recognizing the member companies to that route.

In 2001, this initiative began, encompassing 16 municipalities in the province of Córdoba, in addition to the capital, such as Fernán Núñez, Montemayor, Castro del Río, La Rambla, Espejo, Baena, Montalbán, Montilla, Doña Mencía, Santaella, Aguilar de la Frontera, Cabra, Monturque, Moriles, Lucena and Puente Genil.

The purpose of the project is to unite the Campiña Sur and spread the culture of wine, according to what the territorial delegate of Tourism of the Junta in Córdoba, Ángel Pimentel, has reported. "Wine tourism is much more, it is not only showing fantastic wines, it is showing a history, a culture, a gastronomy, and ultimately, a land and a region", the delegate pointed out.

The purpose of the gala that will take place on November 4th is to honor the 43 tourist companies that are part of the route: wineries, restaurants, hotels, wineries, among others, "the true protagonists", commented Pimentel.

The Tourism Delegation will sponsor this event with more than 36,000 euros "to continue promoting wine tourism in the area, and more and more businessmen continue to join and contribute their knowledge and experience," he remarked.

The territorial delegate for Tourism has pointed out that "among all of us we have to continue working to value each and every one of the tourism companies", which includes "the wineries, the wineries, the restaurants, the accommodations", and other companies “that are part of the wine tourism in the Montilla-Moriles area”.

“Without these tourism entrepreneurs -the delegate underlined-, there would be neither the route nor wine tourism as such”, in the Montilla-Moriles wine-producing framework, which does not only consist of “showing fantastic wines as we have in the Montilla-Moriles area, but wine tourism is much more. It is also showing a history, a culture, a gastronomy and, ultimately, a land and a region”.

The president of the Montilla-Moriles Wine Route, vice president of Acevin and mayor of Montilla, Rafael Llamas, has highlighted that this initiative is one of the best tourism tools to promote the economic development of the South Countryside.

The Minister of Tourism and Vice President of the Board, Juan Marín will be present at the next gala, which will begin around 6:00 p.m. and which, after various modifications due to weather incidents, will finally be held at Bodegas Gracia.

This event will also recognize the work of the Montillan businesswoman Rafi Mármol, who will receive the distinction of Honorary Member of the route for her work in charge of Finca Buytron, "she is the soul of this route", she commented Calls.

The beginning of this event will have a virtual tour of the 17 municipalities, then there will be several tastings and visits to the winery that hosts the event, later a gala dinner in which the different awards will be given and attendees will enjoy of a dinner with pairing, in it, each dish will be made by chefs from different Cordovan restaurants.
