My dad was a rugby player and mom, teacher, and they raised us in a very unusual atmosphere for the northern Ireland of The Troubles. We were not raised as Protestants or Catholics, and they taught us not to see differences or worry too much about being different. The way I dressed, obviously, made people question me, but I think I wanted to be questioned: I wanted to see myself forced to understand myself through confrontation through the confrontation.

That predilection of mine to dress in a striking way continued when I moved to London.I used to use all kinds of things: I had a different look every day.I remember working in Prada and going to the office in Pajamas, which, once again, I think it had to do with the fact of highlighting. At a certain point, my gaze on clothes began to change: I realized that the more I worked in the industry, the more it cost me in the morning to make the decision to put on, because I was focused on making a new collection.

Over time, I started using only a couple of jeans and a sweater, which is what you will see mostly use today.I would not say that I have seen me so because I have chosen it, it has more to do with my work than with whom I am.I never thought: ‘Oh, I should see me more masculine’.And yet, we all do it in a way: we get up in the morning, we brush our teeth, dress, look in the mirror and think who we are, or who we feel we are that particular day. There are people who have days who feel more feminine, and other more male days.Clothing can help us articulate all that.
