Duane Lineker was born in Leicester in 1984, although he has lived in Spain for more than half his life and since 2008 he has lived with his family in Sant Antoni. As a founding partner, he has been at the helm of O Beach Ibiza since its creation in 2012. Since then he has seen a brand grow and evolve that has become an international benchmark and that prepares new projects inspired by a model of undeniable success. Today Duane Lineker faces a season that seems promising but faces many uncertainties due to the changing international context. We talked to him about how he sees the current tourism scene and the challenges that lie ahead.

—O Beach Ibiza celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, what balance do you make of this period?

-Throughout these ten years I have been able to observe better and worse moments as in any other business, but I could conclude with a satisfactory result. We have had to work hard to find a balance, especially these last two years, but we are positive and hope that 2022 will be a prosperous year for all.

—Could you imagine being where you are now, ten years later?

—Ten years ago we would not have imagined that the O Beach Ibiza brand would have had the success and recognition that currently precedes it. This result is the result of years of work and dedication, when I see photos of the beginning I see all the evolution we have achieved in the last ten years.

—How did the idea of O Beach Ibiza come about?

—The proposal to create O Beach Ibiza came mainly from my partner Tony Truman; We were developing several ideas taking as a reference the entertainment offer in places like Miami or Las Vegas. We realized that Ibiza could offer an opportunity to this incredible artistic world. Thanks to that vision, today we are considered one of the best daytime experiences on the island.

—How would you define the offer proposed by O Beach Ibiza? What do you think are your strengths?

—I would define O Beach Ibiza as a place to come and relax with friends and spend a day enjoying the sun, cocktails and quality food in a pleasant atmosphere. The energy that is breathed is unique and makes all our clients want to return.

—How do you plan to celebrate the tenth anniversary? What do they have planned?

—We have many plans for 2022 and to celebrate our anniversary, we are very excited and hope to share it with all of you if the health situation allows us to. I'd love to share more details, but I think the wow factor is key, so I invite everyone to come experience it in person this summer. Just to mention that we have six parties with a very special and well-known promoter on the island; and a weekend in June dedicated to our tenth anniversary. The latter includes three days of special events and collaborations with artists who have accompanied us over the years.

—It seems that this season should be the one for tourist recovery and O Beach Ibiza is already opening its booking period. What are your expectations for the coming months?

—As has been recently heard in the press, we are happy to see that a normal season is expected and to be able to open our doors from April until the end of October, as long as it is safe given the health circumstances we are experiencing at the moment. . We are receiving a very good response from our clients and we hope that with the positive news that we receive from England on mobility and transport it can be reflected in this season.

—The pandemic caused by Covid-19 has highlighted the regulatory disparity between countries, which has made the tourism business difficult. However, it seems that you have not come out too badly. How have you managed the uncertainty?

—These last two years have been difficult to work with, having to constantly change our plans in the face of the modification of restrictions that we have continuously experienced. However, we have been lucky to operate during this delicate time thanks to having an open space, putting all the measures in place and being able to offer our employees work.

—What type of public is the usual O Beach Ibiza? Can you talk about a specific profile?

—Our public is very varied, we could talk about an average age of 35 years and of different nationalities. The truth is that we have clients from 18 to 70 years old who come with the intention of spending a day to remember. We do not depend on a specific profile, the offer is very varied so that everyone has a choice.

—What role do you think your business model plays in the economic fabric of the bay?

—The business model we offer is key to the functioning of the area, since it provides a great tourist attraction to the municipality. This translates into a greater influx of tourists who will travel or even stay in this part of the island. In addition, the beach offer and lucrative options such as neighboring businesses such as Edén, Mambo or Ibiza Rock make San Antonio a very interesting option.

—From O Beach Ibiza they always claim their local roots. What does that translate into? What actions are they usually involved in?

—We are very proud to belong to Sant Antoni, its town and its spectacular sunsets. We consider ourselves ambassadors of the municipality and that is why we support the community in everything we can, from children's events and donations for non-profit associations such as APNEEF to local sponsorships that give visibility to Sant Antoni.

—O Beach is a brand with wide international projection, what new projects do you have on the horizon?

—Indeed, we have plans to open in new destinations soon. Due to the health situation we could not open our doors in Dubai, but this year 2022 we have an event in Maldives that will take place from November 25 to 29. A unique experience where we take the essence from one island to another for 4 days and 4 nights in the Indian Ocean.

—Where do you think the leisure model in general, and that of Ibiza in particular, is currently heading?

—Ibiza had and has a very good projection for the world of entertainment, both as a day and night option. You can enjoy the beach, the pool, incredible cuisine and you can even see the best DJs in the world live. We are very fortunate to have this wide variety of options and to be part of this great culture.

Where do you see yourself ten years from now?

—Wow, in 10 years I see myself with more gray hair! I hope to continue living in Ibiza and continue dedicating myself to the hospitality and entertainment industry. We have a lot of work ahead of us, a great desire to innovate and we will continue to make an effort every day.
